What’s on in Geelong – May 2020

We’ve drummed up our favourite at home activities below to get you through May.

What's on in May

By now the majority of us are getting familiar with working-from-home life. Although staying indoors is the safe thing to do for ourselves and our community right now, that doesn’t mean we need to be bored! We’ve drummed up our favourite at home activities below to get you through May. There are also a few local businesses listed that are doing it tough in the Geelong area and could really do with your support if you’re looking for meals or exercise coaching.

Have you tried House Party?

In our April blog post we discussed the importance of maintaining communication with loved ones to stay connected while social distancing. One of our favourite ways to do this lately has been an app called ‘House Party’ that can allow up to eight individual phones to be connected at once via video chat. The reason we love this particular facilitator of at home fun? It has built in games like Trivia, Pictionary, and Heads Up!

Explore the world’s greatest art from the comfort of your own home

Did you know many of the world’s most famous museums have online virtual tours you can experience for free? Neither did we until recently! Travel to The Louvre in Paris, Guggenheim Museum or The Met in NYC, National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., British Museum in London, and more! Just head to your favourite museum’s website to find out what online exploration is offered and spend hours getting lost in the world’s richest cultural treasures!

Or bring things closer to home supporting local businesses

For those looking more towards what’s in our very own Geelong community, don’t forget plenty of businesses are still open and operating but doing it tough in this challenging time. Some of our favourite finds are listed below that can help you in the areas of food, wine, and exercise!

Provenance Wines

With the unfortunate temporary close of their restaurant at 100 Lower Paper Mills Road in Fyansford, Provenance Wine have shifted their focus to home delivery of wines and high-quality meals prepared by their regular kitchen chefs. Voted a 2020 OpenTable Diner’s Choice, grab a few of their Heat and Eat meals and enjoy fantastic, restaurant dining from the convenience of your home. Don’t forget to write down their address to stop by for a meal with friends and family when we’re allowed to go outside again too!

Geelong’s Gym

Need to increase your physical activity after being indoors for so long? The team at Geelong’s Gym have got your back! Join their weekly virtual video workouts online. Visit their Instagram and Facebook for updates on their weekly schedule and what activities they have on. Best of all, they’re free! It’s never been easier to show some support for our local community businesses!

Seasons Cafe & Catering

The team over at Seasons Cafe & Catering are determined to keep your pantry stocked with fresh, healthy goodies throughout isolation.
