We are very lucky to live in an area that has so many fun and exciting things to do all year round, but ESPECIALLY when the weather warms up.

We are very lucky to live in an area that has so many fun and exciting things to do all year round, but ESPECIALLY when the weather warms up.

This month is no different and is action packed with loads of entertainment for the whole family. From the Festival of Sport and Royal Geelong Show to the Born In Geelong Festival and Geelong Wine Show – we have got it all!

Ooh and a reminder to start thinking about planning those special Halloween costumes as we just can’t wait to see them around the estate. Don’t forget to tag us in your favourite trick or treating pics around the neighbourhood either.

The Festival of Sport 2019

When: 11am – 4pm, Sunday, October 6th 2019
Where: Kardinia Park, 370 Moorabool Street, Geelong
Cost: Free

GMHBA Stadium will once again throw its doors open to the community when The Festival of Sport returns to Kardinia Park for its second year.
The Festival, which is a true celebration of physical activity, health and the diversity of sport in the region attracted 15,000 people across two days last October and promises to be another unforgettable day of FREE sport and family entertainment, where the Geelong community will once again have the opportunity ‘come and try’ an array of sports and activities with a focus on movement and fun.

A national SPL skate competition, an all-new Kids Triathlon and Medieval Jousting displays will headline over 60 ‘come and try’ experiences across one jam-packed day of movement and fun! Last year’s favourites Obstacool, Geelong Cats Stadium tours, stand-up paddle boarding and the Mik Maks will also be returning in 2019.

Geelong Diwali Festival 2019

When: 6:00PM – 11:00PM, Saturday, 5th October 2019
Where: 25-41 Arunga Avenue, Norlane
Cost: $10:50 Children, $22 Adult, $55 Family of Four

After a very successful inaugural event last year, the Traditional Geelong Diwali Festival is back for another exceptional night of entertainment. Head on down and enjoy the festivities, Bollywood dancing with Great Bollywood Hungama and a free 3 Course Indian meal.

This year the theme is Family Fun with a greater importance on Youth and multicultural diversity.

Seeing this is a traditional Diwali event, the food will be all vegetarian and the event will be alcohol free.

Crusty Demons 'Rise of the Demons'

When: 7:00PM, 12th October 2019
Where: GMHBA Stadium, 370 Moorabool Street, South Geelong

More than a decade since their last major performance in Australia, extreme freestyle motocross legends the Crusty Demons will return down under, bringing their brand-new live show ‘Rise of the Demons’ to GMHBA Stadium on October 12.

Renowned for making the impossible happen, The Crusty Demons continue to make headlines around the world, decades after their inception, with world record jumps, backflips over helicopters, and countless stunts that were previously thought impossible.
After the success of the Australian Supercross Championships last October, this is an exciting addition to the ever-growing calendar of events at GMHBA Stadium.

The Royal Geelong Show is the region’s largest 4 day show and boasts being the event that brings the country to the city.

The event is jam packed full of Blue Ribbon Competitions, Vintage Machinery Displays, Live Entertainment, Nightly Arena Entertainment, Harry’s Farmyard (where the kids can get up close and personal with the animals), Thrill Seeker Rides, Food Trucks, Showbags and much, much more.

Provenance Wines Spring Banquet

When: 6:00PM – 10:00PM, Saturday, 19th October 2019
Where: 100 Lower Paper Mills Road, Fyansford
Cost: $75 (Early Bird) $80 (General)

Celebrate the arrival of spring and the finer things of life by enjoying a specially designed menu from Chef, Will Manning, curated to complement Provenance’s elegant and delicious wines.

Guests will arrive at 6:00pm with live flamenco music from the Lewis-Florez Duo playing at the front of the room. Feasting-style tables will be set up among the wine barrels and guests will mingle at the bar before being guided to their seats.

Entrees will be served as large antipasto platters, laden with meats, cheeses, chutneys, pickles and homemade bread. Mains will be large sharing dishes of lamb and chicken accompanied by plenty of delicious sides. Desserts will be individually plated homemade tarts and pavlovas with a modern twist.

The marvellous food and award-winning wines will be accompanied by live, evocative Spanish music throughout the evening. The Lewis-Florez duo, with their astounding technique and lyricism, will bring out the pure magic of guitar.

This is a rustic, authentic dining experience, nestled among the wine barrels in their heritage-listed bluestone building. An evening you don’t want to miss!

Geelong Wine Show Gold Medal Public Tasting

Poppykettle Childrens Festival - Primary Day

When: 9:30AM – 2:30PM, Tuesday, 22nd October 2019
Where: Geelong Performing Arts Centre, 50 Little Malop Street, Geelong

World renowned BMX trick bike rider, Scott Hone, will lead audiences on a real experience made of dreams. Although nearly everybody has ridden a bike, no one rides a bike like Scott Hone.
Scott demonstrates how thinking outside the box and trying new things can lead you on a grand adventure.

Born in Geelong Festival

When: 12:00PM, Saturday, 26th October 2019
Where: Little Creatures Brewery, 221 Swanston Street, Geelong
Cost: $89 (18+ event)

A celebration of the region – the birthplace of its popular Furphy ale – Little Creatures will transform its extensive site into a premium music venue with two stages hosting a mix of local and national talent.

Many local businesses are involved in the festival, from The Hot Chicken Project and the Barwon Water truck, to The Resident Barber who will be serving up some fresh cuts. The organisers want to showcase Geelong as a burgeoning food, lifestyle and entertainment destination, and are excited about putting the spotlight firmly on Geelong for this great event.

The massive 10-hour program is set to attract over 4,000 people and will utilise all areas and laneways of the brewery. The festival will also showcase some of Geelong’s best food, drink, lifestyle and other entertainment, including a pop-up by the popular The Hot Chicken Project, the Nashville-style brainchild of award-winning chef Aaron Turner.

Local up-and-coming artists will also have the chance to hit the B.I.G stage with the KROCK B.I.G Sessions, with entrants selected by KROCK’s morning show Breakfast with Tom and Sarah Maree, in addition to other busking performance opportunities in the brewery laneways.

The Surf Coast Kite Festival

When: 10:00AM – 2:00PM, Sunday, 27th October 2019
Where: Fishermens Beach Foreshore, Corner of Darian Road & The Esplanade
Cost: Free

The Surf Coast Kite Festival is a free Community Event that will showcase spectacular giant kite displays, make your own arts and crafts, face painting, live entertainment, interactive activations, food stalls and so much more.
